Expectations
I’m full of them, all the time. In fact I’m so busy expecting things that sometime I miss the unexpected…that’s where my wife comes in;
I didn’t expect to find that Carole and I have become toiletry junkies. We have 3, yes 3, very large containers full of our ‘beauty’ products, and we still look like a shitaki mushroom.
I didn’t expect to find delicious home made baked bread pudding and scones at Mt Magnet bakery, come camping store, come hardware store. I was going to ask if they were also the local library but Carole had pushed me out the door by then.
I didn’t expect to discover that I actually like then taste of chlorinated water, particularly compared to that of Shark Bay water, which comes from their own desalination plant, and tastes like it too.
I didn’t expect to start assessing, judging and commenting on other 4wd’s, nor did I expect to see 5 Delica’s happily trundling along.
I didn’t expect to spend 4 days in Geraldton, and leave with an expectation that we’d have to return because we didn’t have time to do and see everything that we wanted.
I didn’t expect to find ancient Aboriginal artwork on a big big red rock 200k’s NE of Geraldton, nor did I expect to discover the original ‘Como pub’ (yes, that pub) in the middle of an old gold mining town.
I didn’t expect to see an emu walking down the main street of Denham, nor did I expect to have to sleep next to generators running all night, because “they make them really quiet now”
Ooo, I’m sooo excited, I wonder what to not-expect next.
